The US Army and Air Force signed an agreement on the concept of joint development in all fields

The US Army and Air Force announced last week that they have signed a two-year cooperation agreement to develop a concept for joint operations across all domains.

According to an Air Force press release, the various branches of the military have agreed to establish what they refer to as the Joint Joint Command and Control (CJADC2) at the "most basic" level, adding a "C" to the usual JADC2, representing the efforts of each branch to connect sensors with shooters.

Both parties agree to establish mutual data sharing standards and service interfaces before the end of the 2022 fiscal year.

This work will be led by the US Army Future Command and the Air Force Office of Strategy, Integration, and Requirements A5. On September 29th, General Charles Brown, Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, and General James McConnell, Chief of Staff of the Army, held a one-day meeting at the Pentagon.

The core challenges of future combat are speed and scale, "Lieutenant General Charles Flynn, Deputy Chief of Staff of the G-3/5/7 Army, said at a press conference. Future battles will be faster, and there will be more joint forcessensorAnd more shooters. It will spread more widely than ever before

Both the Air Force and the Army have their own sustained efforts to achieve multi domain operations. The US Air Force and Space Force are developing an advanced combat management system, which has undergone two tests. The Air Force is using this system to connect sensors and shooters, and shorten the kill chain.

At the same time, the army is modernizing its network in two-year increments, with a focus on delivering tools that can support JADC2. The US Army recently conducted a week-long network tool test at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, called the "Aggregation Project".

In this event, the Army showcased significant improvements in using artificial intelligence, software, and autonomous systems to accelerate cross domain data transmission. The person in charge of the experiment told reporters that this technology has shortened the time from the sensor to the shooter from 20 minutes to 20 seconds.

McConville said that the agreement reached with the Air Force is "very, very important"

McConville said at the Army Firepower Conference on October 1st, "We will have all the sensors, suitable shooters, and the right command and control capabilities to provide us with unprecedented battlefield speed and depth.

McConville said that the key to the Army's contribution to JADC2 is its new multi domain task force, as it has the ability to provide long-range precision effects, as well as intelligence, information, and network capabilities.

He added, 'We will have the ability to conduct long-range precision shooting within a range that we have never considered before.'. This will give us a common ability, which will create a common field and capability among our partners

The announcement stated that the agreement will also affect the training, exercises, and demonstrations of the joint forces.

The Navy and Air Force announced a handshake agreement at the end of last year regarding the development of JADC2.

Each branch, including newly established space forces, must learn to communicate with each other and successfully access data, reconnaissance, and intelligence collected from the joint network, "the announcement said.
